Jan 31, 2013 Reinstall iphoto on Snow Leopard I recently bought the disc for Snow Leopard & installed it on my MacBook Pro; when my iphoto failed to work properly, I dragged the old iphoto app to my trash, inserted my only iphoto disc (from '06 iLife) & using the 'customize' button, installed it; then did a software update. Sep 13, 2009 iPhoto quits instantly upon clicking and I cannot get it to open again. I think it may be because a lot if the files are still on the hard drive, but I don't know where. Feb 17, 2012 This is the iPhoto library in a 'package' which may be very big and has a lot of stuff you don't necessarily want such as thumbnails. To whittle the iPhoto 'package' down to a manageable size, hold down the 'Control' key when you click on the iPhoto library icon. Chose 'Show Package Contents' from the menu which appears. Scroll down to 'Originals'.

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

That should take care of your iPhoto problem. I don't know about Word. For that, you may have to uninstall Office completely and reinstall it.
